Closing Down Ensofy

After several intense years, we’ve made the difficult decision to shut down Ensofy.

There are many reasons behind this decision, but I’ll mention just one here. Europe has chosen to place the same regulatory burden on AI health startups as it does on large multinationals. I’ve written elsewhere about the new EU AI Act and its consequences, so I won’t go into detail here. In short, the EU needs a more startup-friendly framework in healthcare AI if it wants to stay globally competitive. For us, it became too difficult to move forward with confidence, so the choice was to shut down or relocate.

That said, I remain convinced that vocal biomarkers will play a growing role in routine clinical care, starting with mental health, and expanding into cardiology, pulmonology, and beyond. Their minimally invasive nature and potential for early detection make them incredibly valuable tools for doctors and health systems. Many exciting startups continue to work in this space, and I’ve had the chance to meet some of their brilliant founders. I wish them all the best in pushing the field forward.

Lastly, a huge thank you to Ensofy team, your talent and dedication made everything possible. As for me, I’ll be exploring new projects in AI and healthcare in the coming months — an area that remains inspirational to me.
